It was a long week and fruitful, if nothing more. The International Gift Show in NYC proved to be the stomping ground of NYC Fashionistas again with more than 20 hat vendors at the show this season.I managed to get a look at all of the upcoming styles and colors as well as the designs that people tended to gravitate more toward.
Most importantly, it gave me an opportunity to showcase my design ideas with the hat vendors. They received my hat jewels with great enthusiasm and offered to put my designs on their web-sites. I also made contact with a beautiful boutique in Manhattan on 72 Street and a buyer from Japan who wants to see the line when my samples are complete.
The jewels seem to elevate the hat to another level of fashion excitement. They take the mundane and transform it to glamorous in an instant. The same can be said for sweaters, blouses, jackets and overcoats. Scarves, purses, head-bands, hair, even shadow boxes benefit from the display. Ornamenting is about as easy as place and magnetize.
